I was so happy to photograph this wonderful family farm Tipi wedding in Hassop just outside Bakewell, the Peak District, Derbyshire. After postponing from September 2020 to September 2021. Meg and Andy deserved a truly fantastic day with all of their friends and family in attendance. It was a pretty big wedding. A lot of people have a lot of love for this smiley, positive, down to earth couple. Everyone was so happy to be celebrating, finally! I first met Meg and Andy (and Jamie from Agnew Film company) when I photographed Meg’s sister Charlotte’s Wedding. Meg and Andy were so lovely and helpful that day. I was so excited they got in contact to book their own Wedding (and very happy they’d come back to me).
Bridal prep was at Bagshaw Hall, a beautiful boutique hotel hidden away up a steep hill in Bakewell. An interesting old place. St Giles village Church at Great Longstone was a short drive away. It seemed as though the whole village turned out to wish them well and to catch a glimpse of the bride.
Meg had the biggest smile ALL day. There were so many lovely connections and moments between the children, friends and family. Dairy Farmer friends formed guard of honour outside the church for the exit and everyone threw home made confetti.
The Grooms’ Dad’s Vintage tractor and trailer took the Wedding party from church through woodland to Tipi’s on Meg’s parents farm. We headed back into the woods for a few couples photos. The tractor broke down (after the photos, luckily) Andy’s brother 4×4 took us back to the party!
Meg sourced, planned and designed all the signage and decor. Pumpkins (if you know, you know), pampas grasses, triangle entrance, festoon lighting, coral and burnt orange accents, perfectly on trend styling. Meg’s brother created space in the meadow for the tipi’s and for guests to mingle by mowing a heart shaped pathway through the clover.
The best man told ‘that’ story! After food there was time for relaxed family photos, a bouquet toss, an acoustic singer who was so good everyone dancing kept calling for one more song. As the sun set Meg and Andy took a little walk away from their guests to look back across the field towards the party and their handiwork. It was a lovely moment to capture and taking time out to reflect is definitely something I would recommend.
The hand made, personalised fire pit was lit and marshmallows were toasted. A sparkler entrance into the first dance organised by Jamie. The band One Million Fingers kept the dance floor very busy. This was such a great day to photograph and all the more valuable for waiting that extra year.
